The Audio by Van Alstine and Salk Signature Sound Room

Salk and Van Alstine joined up again this year to provide great sound on a budget. Those are the Salk Song Tower loudspeakers ($1999/pair).

Frank Van Alstine deserves a special award this year for the most improved cosmetics. Gone are the bent-metal, black powder-coated enclosures that screamed DIY and in their stead are simple, yet attractive, brushed aluminum faceplates. Now, if he could just tone down those unbelievably bright blue LEDs.
