RMAF 2011 Coverage

The Focal, Soulution and Transrotor Room

The Soulution 700 monoblocks ($130,000/pair) had no trouble driving the Focal Stella Utopia EM loudspeakers ($90,000/pair) louder than you would ever want to listen to them.

The Transrotor Tourbillon turntable ($55,000) is a thing of beauty. I wish they hadn’t tucked it away in a dark corner. The Transrotor JR 5012 tonearm ($5500) and Air Tight Supreme PC-1 cartridge ($11,000) are extra cost options.

Soulutions wastes no money on froufrou casework as seen here with its 750 phono stage ($32,500).

The equally utilitarian Soulution 720 preamplifier ($45,000).

This one has a drawer so it must be the Soulution 745 SACD player ($80,000).

A smaller system centered around Focal’s newest Viva Utopia speakers ($26,990/pair) and components by Accuphase and Air Tight went almost unnoticed.

Although the Accuphase DP-600 SACD player ($21,000) (top) and E-460 integrated amplifier ($13,500) (bottom) were on display, I believe everything was being played through the Air Tight components.

The Transrotor Rondino Nero turntable ($14,000) with JR 3500 tonearm ($3600) and an Air Tight PC-1S cartridge ($8500) seems relatively affordable, compared to its other offerings.

The Air Tight ATC-2 preamplifier ($11,000)

What appears to be perched atop one of a pair of Air Tight ATM-3 monoblocks ($21,000/pair) is the Air TIght ATE-2005 phono stage ($9000).
